TUTOR, THE "GRAND OLD MAN" OF SKY RIDGEFARM

The Owners of Skyridge, Delman and Lillian Smith, consider themselves fortunate to have been able to purchase TUTOR, one of the most famous and prestigious sires of the Morgan breed. It gave them the opportunity to sustain and enhance the Morgan breeding program, once originated at the University of Vermont, here in the West. Tutor was the senior breeding sire for fifteen years until he was replaced by his famous son, UVM CANTOR.

In addition to TUTOR were the outstanding junior stallions, UVM VANTAGE (UVM Flash x UVM Linda), TUTOR's great-grandson, pictured here, and SKY RIDGE LARK (UVM Vantage x UVM Heather), TUTOR's grandson.

While the bloodlines and performance records of the Sky Ridge stallions are hard to fault, the Smiths are firm believers in the fact that the basis of any top-quality breeding program must not only include outstanding stallions, but that it is equally important that the broodmare band be of a quality to match. To this end, Sky Ridge obtained some of the finest brood mares in the nation, mares truly suited to carry forth the great tradition of TUTOR.

Sky Ridge replicated the UVM farm with their foundation stallion TUTOR, obtaining the grand fellow in mid-life. UVM Prosecutor goes back to this grand sire - 3 times over.

UVM PROSECUTOR was owned by the Smith's, prior to his untimely death and produced beautiful foals, some of which have become champions. It once again proves that breeding shows, because UVM Prosecutor was a replica of TUTOR, and when bred to TUTOR daughters it showed. UVM Prosecutor had a fabulous personality which he passes on to his get. He was big, powerful and sweet. He was a liver chestnut with light mane and tail.


UVM Jefferson
UVM JEFFERSON is our UVM PROSECUTOR replacement. We are fortunate to lease the younger full and only brother of UVM PROSECUTOR and will be able to sustain our select Government UVM breeding program. UVM Jefferson is a black 15'1 personification of Sky Ridge's 30 year plus breeding program. He has many national championships and get testifying to his genetic quality. We have had him but a few months and he fits in with the tempermanent and attitude of his brother Prosecutor and his get. We have bred three Tutor daughters and UVM Vantage daughter for 2003.
